2024 Jan-DEC

What is the goal?

The goal of this program is to have a range of organizations with varying sizes, missions and objectives to help guide a diverse set of program priorities based on real life examples.

Who should get involved?

Community-centric humanitarian organizations (NGOs) that have a human-centered design approach to programming.

How can you get involved?

Organizations can apply on our website every year in October to be selected as a Humanitarian Wayfinder for the following year.

Why it matters

It is important to guide and anchor our activities in experiential learning and real problems faced by humanitarian organizations so that we can address genuine community needs.
The NASA Lifelines Humanitarian Wayfinders program assembles an annual cohort of three to five diverse organizations that contribute their expertise and insights to various Lifeline’s programs like Humanitarian Simulations, Supper Clubs, Impact Embassy, Mural Contest, and Humans from Space Data series. Wayfinders guide program design, mentor fellows, encourage community engagement, and showcase successful examples to build an ecosystem of learning and innovation.

This program aligns with NASA’s Applied Sciences division to integrate data into humanitarian strategies, foster community champions, and create opportunities for skill application and collaboration.
