Bogotá, Colombia
Muralist Mr. Garek (Jean Betancourt) created Alerts to Save Lives to explore the connection between people, technology, and resilience in a world shaped by environmental and humanitarian challenges. The mural brings together three elements: Earth viewed from space beneath a network of monitoring satellites, three interconnected portraits representing past, present, and future generations, and scenes of everyday life and emergency response on the ground. Created in Bogotá in partnership with Twilio, 3iS, and IGAC, the mural reflects how timely information, local knowledge, and collective action can build a safer, more resilient future.
Cali, Colombia
Muralist Elizabeth Cambelt created Caliendula Orbital, drawing on the calendula flower as a symbol of care, healing, and protection. The mural brings together three elements: farmers, families, and caregivers nestled within the flower’s petals, interconnected lines echoing river currents and satellite observations flowing through the background, and a broader tribute to communities that live near rivers and continually adapt to their changing environment. Created in Cali in partnership with PDC Global, the Alcaldía de Santiago de Cali, and Centro Cultural Colombo Americano Cali, the mural reflects how local knowledge combined with accessible technology strengthens a community’s capacity to prepare, adapt, and thrive.
